The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Announces Steve Backshall as the Voice of the Giant in Jack and the Beanstalk, Playing from Sat 3 Dec to Sun 8 Jan

The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is thrilled to announce that one of television’s busiest presenters, BAFTA award-winning wildlife expert Steve Backshall, will provide the voice of The Giant in this year’s fun-filled family pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

Steve’s impressive TV career has taken him all around the world, investigating a wide array of species and environments in popular TV shows from Deadly 60 to Shark with Steve Backshall and BBC One’s Our Changing Planet!

 The rest of the cast for this year’s pantomime have now been announced. Peter Gordon, Kit Hesketh Harvey and James Merry will return and will be joined by a group of talented actors. Adding a bit of extra sparkle and a blooming good performance as this year’s Fairy Foxglove is Devon-Elise Johnson. You may remember Ernest Stroud from last year’s panto when he was a part of the award-winning Dick Whittington ensemble, but now he’s stepping into the giant footsteps of the leading role, Jack! Completing the principle cast as Jill is leading lady Maya Elliott, who played Alice Fitzwarren in last year’s pantomime. And last, but by no means least, the ensemble from Guildford School of Acting, Laine Theatre Arts and Performance Preparation Academy are Cerys Bright, Natasha Cayabyab, Yasmin Devlin-Dean, Kenyon Garrish, Liam Kelly, Holly Sexton, Lindo Shinda and Jake Tuesley.

Jack and the Beanstalk will be the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre’s third pantomime directed by the theatre’s Chief Executive and Director Joanna Read, after the success of Dick Whittington winning Best Ensemble in the UK Pantomime Awards.
