Surrey Business Awards to Support Brooklands Innovation Academy at Upcoming Awards Night

19th August 2022

Brooklands Museum is pleased to announce that the Surrey Business Awards has chosen to support Brooklands Innovation Academy at its upcoming awards night on 3rd November 2022. Brooklands Innovation Academy inspires and supports young people to become the next generation of scientists and engineers, helping make Britain the best place in the world to do science.

School participation is free in this annual programme which brings together secondary school students with the best of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) from talented scientists and engineers, through talks, seminars, discussions, and hands-on workshops. It is delivered by Brooklands Museum at its historic site, renowned for innovation and world firsts, in engineering and design.

The academy is part of the national Science Summer School programme, co-founded by Professor Brian Cox CBE and Lord Andrew Mawson OBE and Well North Enterprises. In Surrey, it is presented by Brooklands Museum and delivered in partnership with Bourne Education Trust and supported by Haleon and other leading businesses and donors.

Brooklands Innovation Academy is not a stand-alone event – it is a catalyst for a collaborative vision to nurture future talent. An exciting year end event which will be attended by 400 secondary school students and their parents will take place on 29th November and will be supported by Professor Brian Cox and include inspirational talks and workshops from STEM industry leaders, engineers, and scientists.

Companies and organisations are providing invaluable support by engaging with the year-long series of events with secondary schools as well as sponsorship of the programme and main year end event.

Tamalie Newbery, CEO and Director of Brooklands Museum, commented, “We are so grateful to the Surrey Business Awards for choosing to support Brooklands Innovation Academy.  The support of Surrey businesses is crucial to the success of Brooklands Innovation Academy, which is taking a leading role in inspiring, diversifying and supporting the future skills pipeline.”
