Annual business awards open for entries

The third Spelthorne Means Business Awards is officially open for entries after a launch party held at The Thameside Brewery on Tuesday 3 March.

Guests at the launch included last year’s winners and this year’s sponsors who joined Spelthorne’s Deputy Mayor Cllr Colin Barnard and Leader Cllr Ian Harvey in declaring the awards open for entries.

Businesses who win awards benefit from a boost to brand awareness, increased credibility in the marketplace, escalating staff morale and a surge in attractiveness to potential employees.

There are 14 categories to choose from and entry is free.

Speaking about the awards, Cllr Ian Harvey said: “These awards, now in their third year, were set up to recognise our hard working local companies and showcase our thriving business community. No matter how large or small your business is, it’s a great opportunity for you to celebrate your business and your people. The range and quality of the entries we receive are proof of the entrepreneurial spirt, talent and innovative thinking across a wide range of sectors in Spelthorne. I look forward to seeing this year’s entrants.”

Portfolio holder for Economic Development, Cllr Olivia Rybinski, said: “The Business Awards is an excellent evening where we celebrate local businesses who contribute to our economy. Last year’s winners were very worthy and their win was met with lots of cheers! I urge anyone with a business in Spelthorne to participate in the Awards, as it is a fantastic evening which showcases and acknowledge the businesses within our area. Shopping locally and supporting local businesses is so important.”

Businesses must have a trading address in the Borough. Online entry is live until 31 August 2020 and the black tie gala dinner to announce the winners will take place on 15 October at Kempton Park Racecourse in Sunbury.
