Rising Tennis Stars Made Their Mark at Foxhills’ International Tennis Event

A combination of established top-250 world ranked players and young emerging talent looking to make their breakthrough made their appearance at GB Pro-Series tennis tournament at Foxhills Club & Resort.

A total of 56 professionals from around the world arrived at Foxhills to compete in the Women’s ITF World Tennis Tour event, taking place from Sunday, July 31, until Saturday, August 6, 2022, for a chance to win a total prize pot of $25,000 and earn valuable world ranking points.

Stars to watch include Lucrezia Stefanini from Italy. The 24 year old Italian arrived at Foxhills as the highest ranked player, having recently reached the quarter-final of a W60+H event in Rome, and has competed in the qualifying events of Wimbledon, French Open, and Australian Open this year.

The GB Pro-Series is part of the LTA Performance Competition Strategy. Launched in 2022, it aims to give greater opportunity for British players to compete on home soil.

Players from Italy, The Netherlands, France, India, Slovakia, Japan, China, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, Israel, Australia, Mexico and Great Britain were all in attendance.

Leading the British challenge was Naiktha Bains and Anna Brogan. The highest ranked GB player – Naiktha Bains, reached a career high of 199 in 2020. After getting to the second round of Wimbledon in 2022, she returned to Foxhills after making the doubles final in 2019.

Anna Brogan, currently ranked 486 by the WTA, represented Great Britain and was a crowd favourite, after winning the W25 Tibilisi Open in May 2022.

The GB Pro-Series has helped a number of players to progress on to higher levels of the game following the tournament. Many of the world’s top players have sharpened their skills at this level and the competition provides a fantastic opportunity to get a glimpse of the stars of the future up close in action on court.
