The Lightbox – Volunteer of the Year Awards
1st October 2020
Nick Thomson – Volunteer of the Year
2020 has been an exceptional year for all of us. However, during this period of great uncertainty, we’ve seen rays of light in the darkness. One of these was the 2020 Museum + Heritage Awards. This year it took place virtually on 22 September. Award categories included Innovation of the Year, Sustainable Project of the Year and Individual Volunteer of the Year.
The Lightbox is very proud to announce that volunteer Nick Thomson, who has donated his time, energy and enthusiasm to The Lightbox for many years, was highly commended as an Individual Volunteer this year.
Although The Lightbox couldn’t host some well-deserved celebratory drinks, Lightbox Director Marilyn sent Nick a bottle of bubbly for him to enjoy at home!
The Lightbox cherishes its volunteers. As a charitable organisation, they couldn’t do what they do without the support of volunteers. From greeting visitors, to leading gallery tours, to assisting with children’s workshops and activities, their work is varied and invaluable.
The Lightbox reopened its doors on 11 August and has since welcomed back volunteers who have helped out for many years – and has even welcomed some new, fresh faces during these strange times.
So, if you are looking to meet new people, learn new skills, or lend your expertise for a good cause, 2020 hasn’t stopped volunteers from supporting the healing power of art at The Lightbox.
