“A laser focus on the student experience and preparing our students for an increasingly competitive job market will be key to ensuring that our university remains a Southeast regional powerhouse and exemplary national performer in the sector,” says the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey.
Professor Max Lu, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, was commenting on a recent impressive September run of accolades in several renowned league tables. Surrey has been shortlisted for the coveted Times Higher Education’s University of the Year award, with the winner to be announced in November.
The University also climbed to 19th in this year’s Guardian University Guide, where it was also highlighted as one of the “three rising stars” in the sector.
Surrey has also been named this year’s Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide runner-up for Student Experience University of the Year – and is ranked 21st in their overall rankings of UK universities.
The Daily Mail’s University Guide placed Surrey 18th overall; it highlighted Surrey for its excellent student experience (5th nationally in this category) and graduate salaries (12th nationally).
Professor Max Lu, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, said:
“Choosing where to study is a big decision, and we know how much prospective students and their families value independent rankings. Our recent success reflects the hard work, dedication, and passion of everyone in our University community, including our students, who contribute so much to our vibrant campus life.
“We are committed to further enhancing the student experience, with a laser focus on initiatives like expanding student support services and providing state-of-the-art learning environments. By ensuring our graduates remain among the most employable in the country, we’re not just maintaining Surrey’s status as one of the best universities in the region and squarely in the top 20 in the country. We’re also delivering the job-ready graduates who will power the workforce of the future.”
