Microsoft is Changing its Email Policies – Is Your Business Prepared?
1st May 2025

Do you send emails to your customers, clients, or employees? There’s an important change that you should know about.
Whether you send emails for sales, newsletters, or invoicing, you should be prepared for the changes that Microsoft are implementing. Starting 5th May 2025, to follow with the email authentication requirements already implemented by Google and Yahoo, Microsoft Outlook are aligning with industry standards and will introduce new requirements for organisations that send more than 5000 emails per day to Outlook domain addresses including Hotmail, Live, and MSN accounts.
If you don’t meet these new requirements, you run the risk of your emails being sent straight to junk mail or being blocked completely. To ensure your emails are being safely and correctly received, you must have Sender Policy Framework (SPF), DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), and DMARC (Domain Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) set up. Adopting these best practices will maintain quality in your emails and trust in your customers, clients, and employees.
