Taking the bull by the horns: Apps in the Sky rebrand to Apptaura

15th October 2020

Award-winning mobile app development agency Apps in the Sky today announced they have rebranded, becoming Apptaura. The bold new brand vision includes a new logo and website and highlights the blend of commercial and technical expertise that the business provides to their clients.

Thom Gibbons, CEO of Apptaura announced:

“We’ve been building apps round these parts for over six years, but not content with riding out a global pandemic, the challenges of running a small business in lockdown and juggling childcare, work, emails, Zoom calls, and learning to bake banana bread, we also rolled out an ambitious rebrand. As Apps in the Sky has grown our core values and vision evolved, but our brand stayed static.

Apptaura marks a bold new direction for us. We’ve got bigger, we’ve got better and we’ve grown more confident in our abilities. We want to change our world and write great code. We’re aiming for another record year and are excited to scale the Apptaura business into 2021.”

Based in Hampshire since they were founded in 2014, the business has created apps for a range of sectors, working with blue-chip clients, SMEs, start-ups and charities with a particular focus on Bluetooth connectivity within the App space. Coding natively for Android and iOS devices their approach to development is characterised by collaborative work with their clients. The Apptaura branding cements the no-nonsense approach that the business takes, with an honest client/agency dialogue forming the key touchstone to their strategy.

Tom Colvin, CTO and co-founder of the original business commented:

“Apps in the Sky was originally set up as a real back-to-basics start-up, operating primarily out of my own home and consisting of two developers madly coding away for fun as much as anything. Working with Thom to devise the new brand and values for the company has allowed us to refocus on what it is that sets us apart from the competition, whilst still keeping a bit of our own characteristics imprinted on the organisation.

It highlights our ambition to treat our clients as a friend. If someone approaches us with an idea that is commercially or technically flawed we won’t blindly take on the business, we’d rather turn the opportunity down than promise them the moon. As we say on our website, we don’t deal in bull.”
