On Sunday 13th October, aat-events delivered the inaugural Guildford 10K road race. The men's 10km race was won by Rob Sherwood in a time of 33:22, closely followed by Oliver Pritchard of Cirencester AC (33:26). Guildford and Godalming's James Share was 3rd in 33:48. In the Women's 10km race, Carolyne Baxter sealed victory with 37:38, followed by Clare Rees (39:10) of Windle Valley Runners. Jodi Payne of Woking AC was third in 41:16.
When runners registered for the event, they joined one of three different Racecheck teams (team orange, team turquoise or team pink). Each coloured team was led by a team captain and given a matching head buff to wear during the race. The unique team concept enabled runners to integrate with their teammates before the race and cheer each other across the finish line. Team Orange emerged as the winning team on the day, with the lowest collective finish time. Overall, the race was a big hit with runners and is currently averaging 4.5/5*s on Racecheck from over 100 reviews.
