Every year around 1,500 adult patients, their loved ones and carers are able to access a range of support so that they can embrace the life they have left, make memories, and die with choice and dignity. All these services are free of charge and include symptom control, pain management, physiotherapy, counselling, and complimentary therapies.
Patients from our shared community can access our care either through our In-patient Unit and Wellbeing Centre in Woking or in their own homes across north west Surrey, with visits and support provided by our community team.
While all of these services are free, it costs over £10m to run our Hospice each year, and only 1/3 of our clinical costs are funded by the NHS and the rest is self-generated. Therefore, we simply couldn’t be there for patients, when they need us most, without the generosity of local companies, groups, and individuals.

Title: Woking & Sam Beare Hospice Dragon Boat Races & Family Fun Day

Start Date: 07/06/2026

End Date: 07/06/2026

Time: 10:00-15:00

Location: Goldsworth Park Lake, Woking

The Dragon Boat Races and Family Fun Day are back on Sunday 7th June 2026 !

It’s set to be another oar-some day at the Dragon Boat Races and family fun day 2026, kindly sponsored by Trident Honda for another year.

It is a fantastic way to spend a Sunday in June, with friends, family or colleagues, splashing across Goldsworth Park Lake – whether you are out to impress with your rowing prowess or just out for fun, we can guarantee a fabulous fun day, all in aid of the best cause.

Teams must be a minimum of 13 people (12 rowers plus a drummer) up to a maximum of 17 (16 rowers and a drummer), you will have a minimum of 3 races for each team. There are medals for the top 3 teams to battle it our across the water. It really is a fun way to support your local hospice to ensure we can continue to provide much needed services, for free, across north west Surrey. There is a fee per team member, to cover our costs (£45pp), and in addition we ask that you fundraise by getting friends, family and colleagues to sponsor the team. The sponsorship target is £650 per boat and most of the teams smashed this target, making it a spectacular success, we hope this year’s teams will do the same.

Alongside the Dragon Boat Races will be our family fun day, so you can enjoy a range of stalls, refreshments including Pimms, our famous tombola, hot food and children’s activities as well as enjoying the spectacle of the boat races, and cheering on your favourite team. All in aid of hospice care.

You can register for a team in the event by completing the form via the link below and paying a deposit.
