NEW VICTORIA THEATRE BRINGS 1960s VIBES TO WOKING CAR SHOW WITH ICONIC MUSTANG
24th September 2025

The New Victoria Theatre was proud to participate in this year’s Woking Car Show, one of the biggest annual events in the town’s calendar, sponsored by Seymours.
As part of the celebrations on Sunday 21 September, the theatre unveiled an original 1966 Ford Mustang – hired from RNG Classics – to promote the upcoming production of Sunny Afternoon, the Olivier Award-winning musical telling the story of The Kinks.
Hundreds of visitors flocked to see the Mustang, which was displayed in the heart of Jubilee Square alongside a soundtrack of The Kinks’ biggest hits, transporting attendees straight back to the rebellious 1960s. The theatre also offered an exclusive 24-hour flash sale on tickets to Sunny Afternoon, available only to those attending the Car Show.
Laura McMillan, Venue Director at the New Victoria Theatre, said:
“We were delighted to participate in the Woking Car Show this year. The event is a wonderful celebration of the local community, and with the Olivier Award-winning Sunny Afternoon opening this autumn, it was a fantastic opportunity to engage audiences and celebrate the iconic music of the 1960s.”
The Mayor of Woking, Councillor Amanda Boote, stopped by to give the display her seal of approval and confirmed that she is a huge fan of The Kinks – promising she’ll be in the audience when Sunny Afternoon arrives in Woking later this autumn.
About Sunny Afternoon
Following a phenomenal two-year West End run and a sensational first UK and Ireland tour, Sunny Afternoon is returning to Woking. Set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the swinging ’60s, the show charts the euphoric highs and agonising lows of The Kinks’ rise to fame. With a book by Joe Penhall, original story by Ray Davies, and direction by Edward Hall, the show features a back catalogue of chart-topping hits including You Really Got Me, Lola and All Day and All of the Night.
The Star of the Show – 1966 Ford Mustang
RNG Classics, based in the Surrey Hills, provided the stunning Rosso Red convertible Mustang, widely regarded as one of the finest models ever produced. With its automatic gearbox, electric folding roof, and legendary 4.7-litre V8 engine, the car offered visitors a rare opportunity to get up close to a piece of motoring heritage from the swinging 60’s.
Celebrating Local Community
Organised by Horsell resident Terry Fox, the Woking Car Show brings together classic and vintage cars from across the region and is supported by council officers and a team of dedicated volunteers.
This year’s Best Car in Show winner was Tony Pocknee from Farnborough, owner of a 1972 Ford Escort Mexico MK1, who received 6 tickets to see Sunny Afternoon at the New Victoria Theatre this November.
Sunny Afternoon opens at the New Victoria Theatre on Tuesday 18th November and runs until Saturday 22nd November. Tickets are available now from Sunny Afternoon Tickets | New Victoria Theatre, Woking in Woking | ATG Tickets
