Volunteers needed for research study on the delivery of placement opportunities

23rd February 2021

The Business Boost 2020 research project, titled Placement opportunities for postgraduate and Early Career social science researchers in the current and post Covid-19 reality, is seeking volunteers to participate in the study. Our project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and has been reviewed and given a favourable ethical opinion by the University of Surrey Ethics committee. The purpose of the study is to examine the current and future landscape of placement opportunities for postgraduate social science researchers. Our research is motivated by the perceived advantages of connecting researchers with businesses, and the potential for more collaborative opportunities between businesses and universities which facilitates the exchange of knowledge capital. We are seeking to make practical recommendations to improve placement delivery through university/business collaborations, in a manner which supports the post Covid-19 recovery of businesses.

If you are from businesses, LEPs, Chambers of Commerce and County Councils based in the South East of England, we would like to invite you to participate in an interview with us. Your participation will involve a 30-60-minute online interview conducted through Microsoft Teams. We are also seeking representatives from LEPs and Chambers of Commerce and County Councils to help disseminate our online survey to businesses. If you would like to participate in an interview or contribute to our survey recruitment, please contact me via email: yennee.wong@surrey.ac.uk. I would, of course, be happy to provide further information and answer any questions you may have about our study or the research team. I look forward to hearing from you.
