Tree planting in Staines Park
22nd November 2018
Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council, Cllr Ian Harvey, joined Kwasi Kwarteng, MP for Spelthorne, to plant two silver birch, two rowan and a hazel tree in Staines Park at 11am on Friday 16 November.
The trees are from the Woodlands Trust, Queens Commonwealth Canopy project, a network of forest conservation initiatives to mark Her Majesty’s lifetime of service to the Commonwealth. They were donated to Kwasi thanks to a partnership between the Woodland Trust, ITV and Sainsbury’s.
Cllr Ian Harvey, Leader of the Council, said:
“The recent leisure centre consultation showed us the importance many residents place on Staines Park as a valued local amenity and we hope that these five new trees will be seen as a welcome addition. Although they are still only just small whips, it will be a pleasure to watch them grow and develop into mature trees to give our residents a more detailed landscape to enjoy.”
