Oakleaf Enterprise Receives The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2017

16th August 2017

Oakleaf Enterprise Volunteers have been acknowledged for their hard work and dedication to improving the lives of adults living with a mental health illness, with recognition from Her Majesty the Queen.

Invited to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, Oakleaf Volunteers dressed to impress and were awarded ‘The Queens Award for Voluntary Service 2017’; an equivalent to the MBE for volunteer groups.

The work carried out by Oakleaf volunteers was very much admired by the independent Assessment Committee, chaired by Martyn Lewis CBE. Their huge effort and dedication is essential in ensuring that Oakleaf can continue to offer support, training and advice to people in the local community who are struggling with mental ill-health.

Oakleaf CEO, Clive Stone said “ I felt incredibly humble to represent Oakleaf, alongside one of our amazing volunteers at the award ceremony at Buckingham Palace. This acts as a valuable reminder to me and all our staff that we could not undertake our vital work without the immense support of our volunteers, I am truly grateful for all they do, and more importantly the life chances they provide for our clients.”

This is a tremendous achievement for the charity, now in its 20th Year and everyone involved, particularly the volunteers feel immensely proud of the recognition this prestigious award represents.
