Our much-loved Farmers’ Market returns to Guildford High Street on Tuesday 30 March from 10.30am – 3.30pm to offer residents delicious food and drink from local producers.

All of the stalls will only be selling essential items, in line with government restrictions, and there will be social distancing measures in place to help keep you safe.

Dawn Hudd Strategic Services Director said: “We are so happy to see the return of our Farmers’ Market for its 21st year. It will be great to see residents supporting local businesses on our historic High Street. There will be safety measures in place and it is important that visitors continue to keep social distancing, wear face coverings and wash their hands regularly.”

She adds: “This is a one-off date and we hope that our Farmers’ Market will then return to its usual slot on the first Tuesday of the month from 4 May.”

Guildford has been known as a market town for centuries despite not having a market square. Various markets have been held at different sites around town. The earlier cattle markets were originally held on the High Street, but they were relocated to North Street in 1865 as there were problems with noise and traffic. It then moved to a purpose-built market in Woodbridge Road in 1896 before moving to Slyfield Green in 1969 until its closure in May 2000. Today, our Farmers’ Market has a variety of stalls offering locally produced foods and drinks for residents to enjoy.
