We will be hosting what we’re calling a ‘Project Creator workshop’ on Monday 6 December 12-1pm where anyone who lives in Guildford with an idea to improve their local community can get expert advice on how to get cash to get started.

“We hope to see as many of you as possible on Monday at our workshop. From community gardens and street murals to festivals and sports facilities, if you have an idea for a project in Guildford, then please do come along.

“We’ll be joined by our crowdfunding experts at Spacehive who will explain how you get funding to bring your idea to life, get advice on creating you project and find out how to run an amazing crowdfunding campaign. There will also be the chance to join interactive breakout rooms and get specialised support from the team.”

Deputy Leader and Lead Councillor for Community, Cllr Julia McShane adds:

It’s a brilliant way to put the power in people’s hands and give you, the community, a greater say over how your local area develops. You can get money for your own projects and also help support other projects by giving money or time. Anyone can contribute, giving as little as £2 to help bring projects to life. You choose what happens in Guildford and your local area.”

Last month, we launched Crowdfund Guildford – our new community crowdfunding platform just for Guildford. It gives you the opportunity to pitch your idea, big or small. As well as raising funds from the crowd, you can tap into the millions in available funding from our partners on Spacehive. Simply upload your project idea and we’ll match you to all relevant funds. Easy.

If you are unable to attend on Monday, we will be running another workshop on 12 January at 6pm. Submit your final project idea to Crowdfund Guildford by Wednesday 9 February 2022.
