Big Lottery Fund cash to help vulnerable people find homes

15th October 2018

Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, a new project called ‘Spelthorne Rentstart Extra’ has been launched to help people with multiple and complex needs into suitable rental accommodation.

Building upon a previous project funded by the homeless charity Crisis, the project also aims to help people develop the life skills needed to sustain their tenancies, live independently and ultimately improve their health and wellbeing. To this end, the project has three main areas of focus for the advice and support it is looking to offer: Practical, Financial and Emotional.

Presenting the cheque for £174,407 from the Big Lottery Fund, the Mayor of Spelthorne, Cllr Jean Pinkerton, OBE, said: “We are delighted that Spelthorne Rentstart has secured funding for this important project, which gives a helping hand to those that, for whatever reason, just need a bit of extra support. This holistic, multi-agency approach is so important to break the cycle of homelessness and improve people’s life chances”.
