YOUR IMAGINARY FORCES A Call to Arms for Aspiring Artists

To coincide their new production of HENRY V, the award-winning Guildford Shakespeare Company have launched ‘Your Imaginary Forces’, a project calling on aspiring artists to engage with the play and the company to submit creations that will feature as part of the new online show.
The open call is to aspiring artists of any age, ability and medium to join the theatre company in bringing Shakespeare’s epic play to life, by sharing their creative responses to the play and its themes of LOVE, HUMANITY and NEW BEGINNINGS.
The plan is to then incorporate as many pieces, or parts of pieces, as possible in this new online re-imagining of their 2014 production. All pieces submitted, whether featured or not, will be shown in a special online gallery event.
Director CAROLINE DEVLIN: “Creativity is at the heart of what makes humanity thrive and much of that has been stifled for the last 12 months. A defining moment of the play is when Henry discovers his humanity, his ‘band of brothers’. They share a vision and defeat the negative odds, creating a bright new future. We want as many people as possible to engage with that idea, and by inviting aspiring artists to be part of a creative process we can share that vision.”
Inspired by the chosen themes of Love, Humanity and New Beginnings for this production, artists are encouraged to submit original creations in any medium whether it be music, art, textiles, poetry… the list is infinite. All submissions will be reviewed by the Henry V artistic team and then those to be used in the final 70-minute show will be contacted.

Closing date for submissions is FRIDAY 26 MARCH, 6pm.
HENRY V builds on the digital innovations from the last 12 months and will be GSC’s 6th original online show since March 2020, which have been watched by a worldwide live audience of over 3,600 households. Casting to be announced.
