Togetherness in Surrey
30th September 2025

Aren’t we better together, not divided?
Surrey is home to a wonderfully diverse community. We each bring different experiences, perspectives, and ideas. That’s something worth celebrating.
But how is it really feeling to live and work in Surrey right now, in today’s complex social, political, and economic climate? The answer depends entirely on who you are. For some, the county feels welcoming and supportive. For others, that welcome may not feel as strong as it once did.
In the business world, we talk a lot about belonging. We know organisations thrive when people feel valued and included. Productivity, creativity and wellbeing all improve. The same applies to a county or a community: if people feel they belong, the whole area thrives.
We also talk about allyship. It might sound like a soft word, but it carries real weight. Being an ally means standing alongside others, listening to them, amplifying their voices, and creating space where everyone feels they can contribute. That’s as important in Surrey as it is in any workplace.
So how can we, as businesses and as individuals, contribute to a Surrey where everyone feels welcome? Sometimes it’s as simple as listening. Talking. Sharing. Making the effort to understand perspectives that differ from our own.
This blog is my own small act of allyship. A flag, of sorts, to say: all are welcome in Surrey. We are stronger together than apart.
As members of Surrey’s business community, we all have a role to play in ensuring our county continues to be a place where people feel they belong — where they want to live, work, invest, and build their futures.
The question I’ll leave you with is this, how will you show togetherness in Surrey?
