Online Adult Class On Shakespeare This Summer

April-June: Guildford Shakespeare Company’s evening classes for adults – The Bard’s Not That Hard – returns for a new online course, focusing on Shakespeare’s classic comedy As You Like It.

Need a new challenge? Looking to make some new friends? Feeling inspired to get to know Shakespeare a bit more? GSC’s adult classes are the perfect way to introduce, or rediscover, the inspiring world of The Bard. Explore why his remarkable plays are still being performed 400 years on.

Delivered by theatre professionals, with regular visits from GSC creatives and actors, these practical evening classes are designed to help you discover The Bard in a fun and supportive environment. Over 6 weeks, the group explores Shakespeare’s great plays through close reading, group discussion and practical exercises over Zoom.

“We look at Shakespeare’s choice of words, their sound, their order on the page and the visual images created – this helps create a deeper understanding of the work and also gives you an insight and appreciation into Shakespeare’s skill as a writer.” Class Member

The Bard’s Not That Hard meet on a Tuesday evening. No experience of Shakespeare or acting necessary and all ages welcome. This is not an acting class! Just bring yourself and a desire to learn.

Celebrate the Summer and the return of outdoor theatre with Shakespeare’s timeless comedy of courtship, politics and nature. Join the banished Duke in the beautiful forest of Arden and laugh as his daughter, Rosalind, woos her new love, Orlando, all while dressed as a boy…
