Real Talk: Menopause in the workplace

A Business Women in Surrey (BWiS) Empowering Lunch

Join the Surrey Chambers of Commerce and the Business Women in Surrey (BWiS) network for an open, empowering lunchtime event dedicated to one of the most significant – and often overlooked stages in a woman’s life: menopause.

We are thrilled to be joined by guest speaker,  Dr Alex Standring

Dr Alex Standring is a menopause specialist on the British Menopause Society register. She works at the Surrey Park Clinic in Guildford.  Having personal experience of the menopause, she strongly believes that all women should have access to informed medical advice and personalised treatment of their symptoms.
She is a highly experienced GP and has been working in the Guildford area for over 25 years, with a particular interest in women’s health. She finds menopause work to be incredibly rewarding and enjoyable and feels privileged to be able to use her wider experience to help patients, many of whom have been suffering for far too long.

Menopause affects every woman differently, yet it remains one of the least talked-about professional challenges. This event creates a supportive space to share experiences, raise awareness, and explore how businesses and colleagues can better understand and support women through this transition.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Bramley Golf Club, this two-course networking lunch will bring together inspiring women from across Surrey for honest conversations about how menopause can impact confidence, wellbeing, leadership, career progression, and workplace experiences.

What to Expect:

  • A warm, welcoming atmosphere and two-course lunch

  • Inspirational speakers (to be announced) sharing personal and professional stories around menopause

  • Open group discussion to share experiences, insights, and practical strategies

  • Guidance on how workplaces can become more menopause-aware and supportive

  • Networking with like-minded professionals across a range of industries

This event isn’t just about conversation, it’s about action. Together, we’ll break the stigma, champion awareness, and empower women to thrive through every stage of their careers.

Whether you’re experiencing menopause, preparing for it, supporting colleagues or employees, or simply want to be part of a more informed and supportive business community, this event is for you.
