Space and Aerospace-LSIP Employer Engagement Workshop

We need to hear from employers and those that support them to develop the next generation of skills and talent for jobs in the Aerospace and Space sector. Surrey and Hampshire Chambers, working with partners including FAC, UK Space, and Space South Central are shaping the LSIP (Local Skills Improvement Plan) to help understand the skills needs across our Enterprise M3 region.

To help us achieve this objective and offer a fresh perspective for these skills challenges your voice, the voice of business, is essential.

You are invited to join businesses from across the sector at 10:00 on Thursday 13 April 2023 at the Village Hotel Farnborough, for facilitated round table discussions on approaches to skills that offer the most positive impact for business growth and success. There will also be keynote presentations offering an overview of the current landscape, with perspectives on future need.

Together, we will raise awareness of the skills, education, and employment best practices. Looking ahead the LSIP will enable change to build an inclusive, skilled Aerospace and Space sector.

This is part of a continuing region-wide conversation exploring the training and development goals of business, and contextualising this with ways to deliver more accessible and responsive skills solutions.

The LSIP in the Surrey and North and Mid-Hampshire / EM3 region will:

• Articulate employers’ skills need – by understanding what are the skills employers need locally, but struggle to find?
• Translate employer needs into changes in provision – by understanding how can those needs be met by providers in more responsive ways?
• Address learner demand and employer engagement – by understanding what can local stakeholders and employers do to raise demand for and make better use of those skills?
