Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex
We are Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), and we fight every day to save lives.
We are now in our 33rd year as an Air Ambulance charity at the forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) with a strong reputation for excellence nationally and internationally. It costs £15.2M annually to operate our service, 86% of our total income is raised through the generosity of our supporters.
At KSS, we are people centred, purpose driven and values led. Our purpose of saving lives and ensuring the best possible patient outcomes drives us every minute of every day as we provide 24/7 care, 365 days a year. Last year alone we responded to over 3,000 incidents; the busiest year in our history. We bring the emergency room to the scene and deliver life-saving care. Each mission is attended by a doctor – typically a specialist in anaesthesia or emergency medicine – and a paramedic who is trained in critical care and accustomed to challenging environments.
Our fleet includes three helicopters and four Rapid Response Vehicles (RRVs). Our charity headquarters and forward operating base are located at Rochester Airport, with our aircraft hangared and maintained at Redhill Aerodrome. When the call comes, we can reach any part of Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes.
We have an ambitious vision for the future which is an end to preventable loss of life from medical emergency, and we continue to innovate to ensure we continue delivering a world-leading, cutting edge, pre-hospital emergency service, saving more lives and improving many more patient outcomes.
